The synagogue according to Jewish Law
What considerations were taken into account to build the synagogue in accordance with Jewish Law?
The Ark on the eastern wall (facing Jerusalem):
The meaning of this is to face and seek full Jewish life.
Entrance to the Synagogue:
Whenever possible, one should not enter directly from the street but pass through a vestibule or garden.
Windows:
A synagogue should have windows to gaze at the sky, soothe the soul, and draw inspiration for prayer. There are two niches on the eastern wall and two on the other walls.
Proximity to Water:
It had to be near a source of water (for purposes of ritual purity)
